Hello strangers! Been a long time, shouldn’t've left you without a dope beat to step to. I’m so sorry I have been MIA, partly it’s because I’ve been thinking about starting a new blog, something that’s a bit more me now and little less twee. Don’t worry, I shan’t be forsaking all the twee, ya’ll know I still love kittens, I’m just not quite happy with the name of this one.

I have been having a marvelous summer, I’ve ticked off so many things on my Summer Goals list without even meaning to, only about five things left to go! I thought I’d start my return to blogging by sharing my summer instagrams with you.

Wellington: Eating, drinking, Christmas parties, and more recently, gigs. This weekend I went to Fleet Foxes and Beirut – too much fun.

Auckland: Awesome Christmas family time, shopping and strolling in Cornwall Park. All the food.

Raumati: Holidaying in a spacious bach with lots of good people. Rain, sunshine, barbeques, fancy NYE dinner complete with cat’s ears, fluffy neighbour kittens, and I Have Never in the best fort ever.

Nelson: The ferry, a bed and breakfast with a glorious garden full of tuis and friendly cats, beer tasting, magical treehouses. Not pictured: Emma’s amazing wedding! I was too busy helping Jason take the official photos to grab any snaps.

Megan is always alerting me to the most awesome stuff, usually cat related. Today it was Audrey Jeanne, a French designer and illustrator. Everything she makes is so precious, but I’m especially taken by these gift wrapping ideas using her stamps.

I already knew Donna Wilson was selling a plate that looked a bit like me.

But I didn’t know they’d started selling one that looks rather a lot like my husband!

Obviously to complete the set we will need to get a kitty, pronto.

Jason and I probably won’t be exchanging rings when we get married, but wouldn’t it wonderful if we each made something a little like this and exchanged them in the ceremony instead? Afterwards we could keep them in a beautiful box together, or on the wall in a vintage frame.

Oh ! Apparently I’m not the first person to think of this, as I just found this picture too.

Oh hi! It’s just me, Drunkface McKittenshirt, hanging out at the end of the night of my 26th birthday. Wow, I always forget how much I actually dislike birthdays until about the day before, it’s ridiculous. But I did have a really great day aside from the minor tantrums. Cupcake for breakfast, new skirt, lunch at Duke Carvells (so good), afternoon naps, bad tv and a southern bbq-style feast pot luck. Not bad for a tuesday! I was about to say that for my next birthday I’ll be either hermiting or throwing a crazy dress up party but I realised we’re intending to be road-tripping across America this time next year. Fingers crossed.

P.S. Do you like my crazy-ass tacky painting? Best thing ever. My flatmates all hate it.

When I was in Auckland my friend Kelly gave me these great zines about recognisable neighbourhood cats around Wellington. Made by The Water Bear Appreciation Society, it’s available at Madame Fancy Pants & Juniper. I’m excited about submitting a few of my own favourites for the next zine. The world needs to know about Bubbles, Hieronymus & Mister Purrpants.

Just thought I’d mention that blogspot is having technical problems with comments from non-blogspot people. Have been trying to comment on lots of people’s blogs but it won’t work – so annoying.

On a more positive note, today I’m grateful for..

1. Being back with my lovely boy.

2. Having such wonderful friends and family.

3. Spring, oh you are my favourite.

4. Cups of tea in my favourite pink and white striped mug.

5. Braids.

6. Awesome cat-themed zines (will post about soon).

7. Finding my perfect skirt when I thought it was sold out.

8. Coming home to clean sheets, a tidy room and even a clean bathroom (!).

9. White painted fingernails.

10. People reading and commenting on my silly blog – never thought that’d happen!
