I shamelessly love coats above all other items of clothing, even shoes. I was deliriously happy to be able to order the dream sailor coat from topshop (that I’ve coveted forever, and as seen on Alexa and all fashion blogs ever) as a Christmas present from my folks and despite it being two sizes too big (I’ll get it altered eventually), it’s amazing and makes me squeal. Bonus – Wellington’s weather is so bad I’ve been able to wear it every day, even though it’s meant to be summer! Perhaps that is why I live in Wellington, for the coat-wearing opportunities? I cannot think of any other reasons in this 11 degrees celcius summer.
So finally my dream coat yearnings had been sated, but silly me, I wandered onto Clever Nettle and fell in love all over again. I’m sorry sailor coat, I love you so but you know I’m no good.

Ugh, 11 degrees! Get it together, Wellington! Hee. If it makes you feel any better, it hasn’t been above freezing in NYC for what feels like weeks. Cold times. The coat is fab, though. I like the black because my school uniform was forest green, putting me off the colour forever. Ha! xo

i love coats more than any other item of clothing as well. they’re especially important when you live somewhere with a long winter, like i do. for months & months most people only see you in your coat – you need awesome ones!
Yeah I love coats as well. Brought a awesomesauce one from a little mens shop in Port! Plus I life in Central Otago so a good coat is a must!

I’m with Gala, the black, for the same reason. Green school uniform – blurgh! Totally adorable though… you make me want to rock out great coats too!
Have you seen the movie “Penelope”? The green and yellow is v. reminiscent of her coat in that film, and it is adorable. I think you choice would depend on what your wardrobe style is, overall…the green/gold is lovely if you like retro things and vintage items; the black and white appears sleeker, more futuristic and modern and a bit severe…do you want to look charming and girly and decadent, or elegant and pulled together and classic? I would see Anne Hathaway in the black/white in “Devil Wears Prada”, and the green/gold on someone like Maggie Gyllenhal or Zoey Deschanel…
